As many of you know, the new Formula 1 season is just around the corner starting on 16th March! We at Toolorders absolutely love F1 and are excited to have it back on our screens! We’ve been drooling over the new cars and all the latest tech developments. To celebrate the returning world championship, we’ve put together an exciting, interactive history of Formula 1 here.

All the important dates are in there, such as the winner of the first race in 1950, the god of F1 Bernie Ecclestone becoming president of the constructors association in 1978, the sad untimely death of Ayrton Senna at the San Marino GP in 1994, to Michael Schumacher’s domination in the early 00’, right up onto now with the current master of F1 Sebastian Vettel’s 4th world championship.

Alongside all the important milestones we’ve packed in some amazing and sometimes rather weird F1 racing facts and statistics. Did you know for example that the cockpit of a Formula 1 car reaches temperatures of up to 50 degree celsius? Or that each car has over 80,000 components in it?

From the crazy to the downright weird, we found out that during a race a driver can experience forces of up to 5G’s under braking and a modern F1 steering wheel will set you back over £40,000!
